Don't mean to sound pushy but I just want a straight answer

Postby onslaught » Thu Apr 10, 2003 11:28 am

Like I said in the subj, I am not trying to sound all bitchy (though I know I am), I was just wondering what the deal with the sounds is. None of my default sounds work and I can't figure out how to make them work again, trust me, I have been trying to get them working on and off for two weeks. I love invision cuz of ease of use and all the options, I just want to get back one of my options. I am using build 2520 ( but I have used many others trying to get the sounds back) with a p4 2.0 ghz comp, running win xp. It just struck me as strange that they worked for as long as I had invision and then suddenly stopped... If you don't know the answer to this question, plz, plz, plz just tell me that so that i can stop searching for it.

Thanx for all the hard work on Invision and keep it up,

Ok, so I went to the Invision help channel and this is what I found out. The mp3 files in Invision->themes->sounds->default (the default sounds dir) play, but the wav files with them do not. Other wav files on my system still work tho... If you are having sound problems, plz check this out and see if this is a common factor...

ok, I found the solution to the sound problem, i'll post it here and i'll make a new topic to let everyone know. For some reason, my computer stopped recognizing the wav files for mirc, as I said before, so I came to the logical conclusion that I should just overwrite the wav files with ones of my own... and it werked! for the wavs that were just sounds and not voices, I went into the theme manager and told it to use the mp3 version of the sound, which is not as reliable as the wav for some reason (when it plays in mirc it sometimes sounds garbled). First I went through and recorded my voice for the sounds, but while writing this I got another bright idea on how to get the original sounds back. I used musicmatch to convert the mp3s of the original sounds to wavs, and it werks too... Hope this werks for you too, don't know why it shouldn't. If u want me to send you the sounds for some reason, im me on aim (even if it says im away, i may still be sitting here), NeoExodus9...
