Help My PC Always Freezes

Whenever I download of mIRC (invision) my PC keeps freezing for some reason. Why is that, and how can I prevent this from happening in the future.

I have been experiencing this problem as well. But it is also freezing Even when I am not downloading now. Is it a Conflict with Xp ? Maybe the new service packs ? I have been experiencing this difficulity ever since the blaster worm came out could it be the fix for that is causing the conflict. Any help would be appreciated please. I would hate to have to go back to The evil Kazaa Or something jsut as vile [/b]

No it freezes any time during a conversation or download sometimes it can take hours to freeze sometimes it only takes minutes.

My pc also freezes. It does not matter if I have minimum programs runing or not. please help cause i cant finish a download to save my life...

I updated the invision to 3515 and eventhough it said the problem(freezing under heavy load) was fixed mine still did. Thank god i was able to download a few things. I halted all other programs from starting and reduced the quality of the graphics to improve system performance... basically everything i could think of that was not needed was off or set to minimum.... HELP this is really frustrating!

How much Ram u have and what type CPU?

If it has been happening since the worm came out, you probably are infected even if you did some kind of fix for it. What are you using for virus scanning software? McAfee (and I'm sure Norton) automatically block the worm if you have the latest updates.
