You can't use that server any more. Use one listed on http://www.dal.net/servers/index.php3 instead.

Dalnet Is F*CKED !!

Postby VaginalCream » Tue Dec 31, 2002 9:25 am

Still seeing these same questions over and over. DALNET is dogshit man!
It's NOT Invision. Most of the Dalnet servers are down most of the time. They are being attacked by goofy little dweebs with nothing better to do, and aparently the Dalnet administrators either don't care, or can't find anyone with the brain enough to track these attacks. It's been going on since August or September. You'll get wierd notices, "can't connect to assigned address" etc., or it'll just time out. Dalnet usually goes down for an entire weekend at a time.

Again, this is NOT an Invision problem...you can't connect to a network that is not there... :)

Hope this helps clear this up.

I don't how much of what you are saying is true or not but, I do know if I close down Invision and start mIRC I can connect to Dalnet. However, running Invision I CAN and do connect to other IRC servers.

So, I tried another program like Invision and it also would connect. If you want to try this yourself I will explain more in detail.

Let me know.

You can also find a list of currently active dalnet servers at http://edk.dyndns.org/servers/
This site is updated all the time.

DalNET

Postby KrYp70N » Thu Jan 09, 2003 2:23 am

That error is a Dalnet problem. If you run another client and get connected then try connecting to the same server the other client did and you will be able to connect just fine. Type /links to get a listing of all available linked servers to the network you're connecting to (put this in Perform section of mIRC so it does it every time you connect). This way you have a list of servers to try (just double-click) if you get disconnected and have difficulty getting back on. Sometimes no matter what you do, you'll just have to wait for DalNET to fix the problem (as I'm doing right now not able to get connected)
Hope This Helps ;)

Dalnet has released some bullshit news, but basically what they are saying is that DALnet is dead...and they don't think it will be back up anytime soon...

cRYOa, i think its time to move the #invision channel to a secure, complete, stable network that is working.

KRYPTON, let me know dude...

it doesn't matter what network we bring the channel to, as long as it is working, and the support from us is in there...

I am on irc.enterthegame.com, and I will be in #invision
I also use efnet, and will be in channel #invision-mirc

Nothing to do with Invision.
If the server can't be resolved, either you have a problem at your side doing name server lookups. Try to change lookup method in mIRC options -> connect -> local info.
Or it could be the IRC network having problems. Try to use a different server. You can find servers by typing /links on the connected computer.

I keep getting this:

[10:55pm] *** Connecting to irc.holonet.net (6667)
————————————————————
[10:55pm] *** Unable to connect (Connection timed out)

How do I stop that? And yes, The server is up and is currently stable and secure.

the server is not answering in the time it is supose to. AKA ping
so either your connection is slow, your ISP sucks, the server is slow or thier ISP sucks. keep trying on diffrent ports you might get lucky.
life is a lesson you will learn it when you are through
