IMPORTANT: mIRC DCC EXPLOIT Affects mIRC 6.0 through 6.11

Excerpt: Starting Oct 12, 2003, an exploit was used to crash many people's mIRC clients. All versions from 6.0 thru the recently released 6.11 are affected. (It does not appear to affect version 5.91 or earlier.) The exploit involves a type of DCC command which can be sent to any person or channel, no matter what your DCC options are. (DCC is used to trade files or for DCC chat.) The author of mIRC has been notified, presumably an official fix will be forthcoming "soon" but that is up to him.

I have created a script to protect yourself from this exploit and still be able to get files on IRC. I have been hit a couple of times already on more than 1 computer and there was no way I was going to stop downloading, so I came up with this quick script. You can download it at:

For those of us who still use some scripts that are not mIRC 6.12 compliant, I have made a quick, easy and simple little fix for the DCC EXPLOIT. This is NOT NECESSARY if you have already upgraded all of your scripts to mIRC 6.12.

1) i2b2520 patchFIX to fix a few small quirks in i2b2520.

2) PopWeasel's mIRC.v6.1--Invision.v2.0.bld.2520.ScriptGuard.Fix.v1.2.by.PopWeasel to allow Invision to work with mIRC 6.12.

3) Automatically upgrades mIRC to v6.12
