Trojan?

Postby Riamus » Sun Jun 20, 2004 11:15 am

Sounds like perhaps you got a trojan or virus that is causing it to close (does mirc close when installed without Invision?).

Try getting the pack from and install just that to a new folder (it has mirc inside it).
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

Well i'm quite sure that i don't have a virus or anything. I've had this problem for a while and i've been virus scanning and weekly and never found a thing.

And that I installed that pack and it still doesn't work. I still just get the same error no matter where I install it.

mIRC

As mentioned, does mIRC work without Invision installed?

I just got the same problem, then I used the setting restore function and rebooted my computer. Now everything is working again except some icons of the menu is lost and some of the setting is back to default.

This probably sounds a little dumb -- and it may be -- but is there any possibility that the link you use to start Invision somehow got fouled up? If you go into the directory where mIRC and Invision are located, and double click on mirc.exe, do you still get the bad results?

Computers; can't live with 'em -- can't live without 'em. Good luck.

Your problem

Postby Ranger808 » Sat Jul 17, 2004 9:14 pm

When I first got my new computer, I had pretty much the same problem. I tried every work around I could and even thought it might be a problem with Windows.

After reinstalling, I kept importing from my old script. Because obviously, it worked before with the old computer.

What it turned out to be was a glitch in the mIRC/Invision script I was importing from. The fix was to completely remove mIRC and Invision, including the references in the registry and do a clean install. Once finished, DO NOT try importing your old settings. Just type them in new.

Once you've done that, all the problems should be fixed with it shutting down.

Before you uninstall, I suggest you write down all your site addys and settings, so you'll have them to refer to.

Hope this solves your problem, it did mine.
