Identity changed from email name to nick name.

Postby eagle62001 » Mon Feb 28, 2005 1:39 am

I'm using mIRC 6.12 with Invision 2.0 3515. Somehow, without changing anything, my identity changed from my email name (whatever@....) to my nick name. I've asked around and no one seems to know so far. Someone please help?

You mean your identd? Such as nick!identd@host.com?

If so, what was it and what's it now? Also, what do you have listed as your identd information in the mIRC options?
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

Identity changed

Yes, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. For my email, I have sada@asdsa.com (just made something up). Invision used to show my address as sada@myhost.com... but now when I do a whois, it shows EagLe62K1@myhost.com. As far as I know, your Identd is taken straight from your email name. The weird thing is that the email I put above is still the same and I never changed that.

Identd

Postby Riamus » Tue Mar 01, 2005 9:39 am

Well... I've not really taken time to really look into how mIRC handles idents, but from what I've seen, it is *supposed* to take the ident from what you have in the identd box in mIRC's options. If that is blank, then it is supposed to take it from the e-mail. I could be wrong about that since I've not looked into it that well, but that's what I believe it is. Check and see what is in your identd box. You might also ask that in the mirc.com forum as it's a mirc issue that they might know about. Or, perhaps someone else here knows more about it. I'm at work and can't look into it right now.
