Postby masakra » Fri Jan 04, 2008 5:39 am

I use invision many years. Its good script but... the newest version of invision = spamvision.. i mean network spam problem. I dont know what for someone add network name (irc.irchighway.net) in aliases, remotes etc.. Its nonsense i think. When i advertise this script for new users they are banned on many networks.. because of NetSpam (for example: stupid ctcp version = gline and "advertise" too ofcourse. heh sure, i can change it and del netname, i know how to do it, but n00bs NO Its serious BUG so please NO MORE SPAM .. thanks

There has always been the option to make Invision "silent" with regards to advertising itself. Enable that option in Main Settings and it will not reply to version requests or display the Invision "logo" anywhere on the network(s) that you have it enabled on.
You can find me at #Invision on irc.irchighway.net or #OldGames on irc.undernet.org if you need me for anything.

That option only prevents Invision from responding to Version requests, which is what you asked for. It also prevents Invision from displaying its "logo" on ads/etc. The option will not prevent other scripts and/or mIRC from displaying Version information if requested. The option is set up on a per-network basis, so enable it only on the network(s) where you have problems. Obviously, if you want to allow the version in some channels and not in others on the same network, you won't be able to. However, it's rarely necessary to show the Invision version reply in a specific channel, so that's a moot point. You can always manually display the script information if someone wanted it. And, no, it does not block all CTCP requests. It doesn't block anything. All it does is prevent Invision from responding with its own Version request.

Just enable it for the appropriate network(s) and you won't send a Version message and therefore won't get banned. It's that simple. Just be sure that it IS enabled for each network that you need it enabled on. Changing it on one won't change it on all unless you enable global settings, which is rarely desireable. And, yes, it does work. I've tested it on channels/networks that don't like the Version reply from Invision. Because it won't give a Version reply for Invision, you can't be banned for it.
