Fserve problems - complete uninstall?

No router, but I am running XP Pro with SP2. But I don't use that firewall, I use the free Zone Alarm instead. Thanks much for asking - does the info help you? I mention in passing, though, that I tried with Zone Alarm off and had the same result. Perhaps I should say that over the weekend I signed up with AT&T's CallVantage service (uses VoiP) and there's a new box right behind my cable modem. Think that might be screwing it up? I'd rather get an opinion before I disconnect it.

Anything connected between your computer and the ISP can block ports. If it's easy to disconnect, just do that and test it again. If it works, that's your problem. If not, then reconnect it and we can figure out what the problem is.

Router/Firewall is almost guaranteed to be the cause of any problems where people don't get connected to your fserv (getting that blank box does not mean they connected... it means they didn't connect).

Fserve problems - complete uninstall?

Postby uo2bhogti » Thu Dec 23, 2004 9:19 am

Here's the update: I tried disconnecting the CallVantage box, still had no luck. I've tried to serve with CallVantage disconnected and firewall off. I uninstalled Zone Alarm and used the settings from ircmadeeasy.com to configure XP's firewall (sorry, but I'm not comfy having no firewall whatsoever). I can send files out manually and I can still receive them, but when someone tries the trigger the screen just sits there until it times out. This is a genuine bummer - is it possible that ISP's can block this sort of thing? I appreciate all the help, btw.
