When I set the DCC Per Send Bandwidth Limit it doesn't seem to change my bandwidth used. I need to increase my bandwidth for my server. Am I missing something?

That download rate is a tad low that might be for a lot of reasons. That upload speed is great and would explain why you can't send faster than 26-27KB/s. Unless you can get a MCI (Worldcom) DSL line or cable modem then that upload speed is what you'll have to live with.

I don't understand.... If my upload speed is great then why do I have to settle for such a low upload speed with Invision?

You're not settling for anything Invision is transferring at the max rate that your ADSL line can handle.

But the most I can upload in Invision is around 20k....no matter what settings I use.

I thought you had said that the max you could do was 26-27KB/s? 20KB (Kilo Bytes is what Invision lists transfers in ((1 Byte = 8 bits)) is about 160kb (kilo bits).

How many transfers do you have going on at the same time?

Yes, I can only out put a total of around 20 kbs (kilobytes) or so total no matter how many transfers I am doing at a time. Is this a limitation in Invision, in mIRC, in DCC or something?

But what I was saying was that it was well within my means.... not maxing out my ADSL.

Hmmm, according to your dslreports.com speed test you should be maxing out at about 27KB/s, whats happening to that 7KB/s I don't know - are you running any other file sharing or P2P programs? Normal web browsing takes up a fraction of a Byte so that wouldn't explain a 7KB/s loss.

I personally don't think its a limitation of Invision, mIRC or DCC because when I had a cable modem I would max out sending at 35-38KB/s which at 307kb/s was 80% (the rest goes to TCP overhead) of my modems 384kb/s limit.

Well in watching the statistics for my modem, I can transmit (upload) at speeds up to around 256 Kb (kilobits). Yet, in Invision I can only upload at around 20 Kbs (kilobytes?). If so, I suppose that would make sense.

Toddlajiness: I don't know if this will help or not - click Invision and then DCC Manager, click the Setup tab and look towards the bottom. Make sure 'Enable PDCC' and 'Enable Fast Sends" are both checked. Also change the 'Packet Size' so that the tick is in 8192.

Also have you tweaked any of your internet connection settings? Some ppl swear by them. On dslreports.com when you click on 'Our Tools' click 'Tweak Test' right next to 'Speed Test' and follow the advise there. Also a good website to check out is SpeedGuide.net
