Am I getting HACKED???

Postby tronix » Tue Jun 10, 2003 1:53 pm

If I receive messages like this in my server window:

"ERROR > 401: No such nick/channel:" with a few names of users whom I don't know, could that be because of certain settings I activated? Or am I getting hacked?

I also saw a message that stated: "ERROR > 421: Unknown command: C:\PROGRAM", and on the next line "—I-n-v-i-s-i-o-n— Given Host - a Secure Connection".

I just registered my channel and thought it could be a message that I am not familiar with. However, if it is a malicious attack (which I really hope is not the case), how do I protect my channel and system? :?:
Oh, no.... here we go......again.

The first 401 message could be just anything. I don't know what.
The second is probably caused by you installing invision in a subdir of program files.
Invision still have some problems regarding paths with spaces.
The third one could be caused by you having made a SSL connection to the server.
You have to have an SSL enabler installed for that to work for mIRC. You should know if you have done that.

I will check that...

I know I do have Inviison installed in the Program Files folder... Hopefully the next version of Invision will fix that glitch.

As far as an SSL emabler, I am not sure if I had that set up. I only recently received that message. I will check that out.... (BTW, is there more than one area where I can configure that setting? I don't recall having configured that setting at all.)

Thanks for the tip!

SSL has nothing to do with Invision.
You can read/download at http://www.bovine.net/~jlawson/coding/stuntour/

I am looking to set that up as soon as I can- I just downloaded it. One question- does the DLL go in the system folder or the root mIRC folder? The documentation did not specify...

Thanks again for your help. :)

I saw that it should go in the root mIRC folder...

If I was u I would reinstal it. First install mIRC 6.03.. then u install Invision in your mIRC Ordner and when the message comes again defragment your Pc... And a hacker isn`t it I can say hacker`s can only get your Auth if u visit Pages or put sth. in your remote text most it begins with $decode..... if u see sth where $decode go in your Helpchannel motly it`s #help or #feds I wish u Good luck
Hi friends! I am using Invision! ;>

I'll check for that. Thanks a bunch. I haven't had that stuff pop up lately, so I will hold off on reinstalling Invision & mIRC for now. If it starts up again, I will definitely reinstall.
