DCC Resume Probs

Postby ashman99 » Thu Oct 09, 2003 12:19 pm

Hey,
I am a server on a channel and i can get files and send files fine. BUT when sending a file and it stops, the client requests again and when its supposed to resume i get an error message in the status window saying:

"DCC Resume from username rejected (invalid parameters)".

Why is this and how can i correct it so clients can resume from me?
I am running WindowsME and have tried re-formatting and re-installing already but nothing has worked. Ive tried EVERYWHERE for help - but nothing so i would greatly appreciate some help from here.
Thanks,
Ash.

gateway router?

Postby VaginalCream » Fri Oct 10, 2003 3:41 am

Are you by chance running a dsl or cable gateway router on your network? I had this same problem, and it was my router. I had to forward all the ports that are set in the start and end dcc windows located in the mirc part of settings. Most routers will do port forwarding.

Just another suggestion, I highly doubt that the problem stems from your operating system, but I'd like to suggest that if possible, you use windows 2000 or windows xp if your computer can handle it. ME is a well known buggy operating system. I've read articles where they say it's no more than windows 98 (another buggy OS) with a new GUI on it. I also know a friend who was running it and had more problems with it than you can shake a stick at. He is now on xp and loves it. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps.

Well, no router eh? Sounds like a setting problem then. I'd suggest these two sites and go through the settings meticulously. Also, if you have any firewall software, that may be causing the problem.
If you do go to Windows XP, make sure you turn off the built in firewall that comes with XP. Just do a search in the help/support of xp for firewall and you should be able to find out how to turn it off.
Good luck.

u might wanna try installing mirc 6.1 and apply the fix packs and give it another try if upgradin to xp doesn't help. first test if u can send/resume the files thru regular mirc so u can pinpoint if the prob is with ur script or comp. read the mirc 6.1 post on help on using mirc 6.1 with invision 2520.
